All Voters Statewide
The recent part 2 article revealed statewide Kansas has over 90,000 more female voters than males.
But how do the state numbers break down by political party?
Let’s look at both party and gender by age interval below.
The pink and blue boxes in the chart above are the sums of the next five charts.
Comparisons against census data by party is not possible since that census data does not exist.
Note each of the charts below have separate vertical (Y-axis) scaling.
Major Parties
Democratic
The Kansas Democratic Party has 60 females for every 39 males in the party with 1 member not reporting gender. Does the KDP need an affirmative action program for males in their party?
Kansas Democrats have a significant majority of females for all age intervals in their party, which is curious since many Democrat politicians cannot publicly define what a “woman” is.
Republican
Kansas Republicans have rough parity between genders, with 51 men for every 49 women.
Male Republicans have a slight majority for age intervals until about age 70. There is near gender parity for the 70-74 interval. Female Republicans have the majority for the three intervals 75 and above.
Libertarian
The membership of the Libertarian Party of Kansas has a male majority with 57 males for every 42 females with on average 1 person not reporting gender.
Females have a slight majority under age 25, but there is a male majority in age intervals 25 and above.
Unaffiliated Voters
Unaffiliated voters have rough parity by gender. Unaffiliated voters have 50 females for each 49 males, with one member not reporting gender.
As unaffiliated voters age beyond about 30-34, many pick a party with fewer unaffiliated voters in each older age interval. This gradual decline in membership over age is unique to unaffiliated voters.
Minor Parties
State laws that enabled the creation of these minor parties this year through petitions of about 25,000 signatures do not seem to be fair or make sense when so few affiliate with the new party after creation.
Perhaps legislators should revisit these laws and automatically change registrations for those signing such a petition, or remove the power of a minor party to nominate candidates to be on a ballot until they have the same number of party members that were required to sign the petition.
No Labels Kansas
No Labels Kansas is a new “minor” party in Kansas in 20204. No Labels Kansas membership by gender is about 59% female, 34% male and 6% unknown.
United Kansas
The United Kansas Party is very new with a very limited membership so far.
The 30 United Kansas members at present are 60% male.
