I'm happy you have such unique and fond memories of your visit to the Vstican in 2005.
In 2005, a brother-in-law and I visited London. Among the fun memories was going to the top of St. Paul's Cathedral and kooking out over London. Contrary to much of our stay, "Mr. Blue Sky" treated us to a sunny day!
Thx Earl for sharing this personal story! A bit of a Forrest Gump moment.
I am struck by your observations that one has choices every day. You chose to praise the excellent tour guide. Not resent that entrance was barred. Ha...you can always see photos or film footage of the Chapel...but only you and your wife may retain the stories the guide shared that special day.
And graffiti can be removed...and likely has been countless times...but the view remains a priceless memory.
