Nearly $1.4 million more flowing to Kansas Values Institute from progressive groups
Recent contributors include teachers unions, other unions, and an abortion advocate
A review of IRS 527 data through Oct 22, and FEC electronic data through yesterday, revealed $1,365,000 in new funds for Kansas Values Institute since the August primary election.
Contributors included teachers’ unions ($950,000), other unions ($100,000), an abortion advocate ($250,000), and others ($65,000).
This is likely only a fraction of the money spent for the Nov. 2022 election. An article after the August primary election identified only 30% of contributions to Kansas Values Institute since its inception in 2011 could be documented.
The union contributors are possibly dividends from a fundraising trip Governors Kathleen Sebelius and Laura Kelly made in May 2022 to a DC union event hosted by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters to benefit Kansas Values Institute.
Here’s the breakdown by source:

IRS 990 Contribution Information from Non-Profits?
The IRS is making research of recent non-profit money trails quite difficult.
The IRS has taken IRS 990 XML information offline for unknown reasons, including files from 2021 that had been online. XML files are the most searchable way to study IRS 990s.
